Charity Lift

I teamed up with Black Diamond to create some skis for the Kimball Art Center's annual Charity Lift event. The skis will be auctioned and 100% of the proceeds will go to charity. Charity Lift is at the Canyons on Saturday, December 10th, from 6:30 PM to 10:00.

Here's a spot on KSL about the skis and Charity Lift:

Light for Design Build Bluff

Last weekend Design Build Bluff (http://www.designbuildbluff.org/) had a gala to raise money for their cause. They asked artists and architects to create light fixtures out of recycled materials. This is what I came up with.

Mentoring at Relevant

The Relevant artist in residence program brings up-and-coming artists to Park City for week long event in which they produce one work of art while having a professional artist as a mentor. I will be mentoring Karen Cleveland, who recently graduated with an MFA from Georgia State University.

Apartment Therapy

I met Danielle a couple of years ago in SLC and she took interest in my work. She contacted me recently to let me know that her home was going to be featured on Apartment Therapy and that my work would be on the walls. Thanks for giving the paintings a good home, Danielle!

On the way to Philly

This mixed media work is a commission for the downtown Philadelphia Marriot through an art firm in Atlanta. The piece is the largest work I have ever done (86" x 86") and proved to be challenging on many levels, and rewarding on many more. The work itself began with me walking the streets of Philly for two days straight, dawn to dusk, taking picture after picture. I only stopped to indulge in an occasional cheese steak or to marvel at the beauty and history of the place. Four weeks after returning home from Philadelphia, the work was done and shipped to Atlanta to be framed before being sent to its new home. I just received the images of the framed work today(see above) - it was done this morning. A big thanks to David Leslie for making my panels and the shipping crate, and to Kati in Atlanta for the opportunity to make this work.

Revisiting some old friends.

Talk to just about any artist and they will tell you that it can be difficult to give up certain work. It may be a piece that represents a new stage or breakthrough. Or it may be one that they spent a long time making. Or it could simply be one they like. I just took three pieces to CODA. Two of them were hanging in my home. One was in my studio. They all have special meaning.
