300 Plates 2012

Every year, Art Access, one of Utah's best places to see and learn about art, holds a fund-raiser called 300 Plates. This year 130 artists did one or more plates for the event. A "plate" is actually a 11" x 10" sheet of aluminum, steel, or plexiglass. The fundraising event was held tonight, but plates will be on display through June 7. The quality of the work at this show was outstanding. Curator Namon Bills did an excellent job of putting everything together. Gallery Director Laura Durham did a great job of hanging it.

This is a new idea I've been working with for a little while. After going to New York and walking the streets for two days straight, I couldn't shake the feeling of being so surrounded by buildings. This is an interpretation of that experience.
